Brexit and employers in the Netherlands

The UK has left the European Union. This has implications for all British employees living and working in the Netherlands. It also affects any British employees you might hire in the future.

How will Brexit affect your British employees after 1 January 2021?

If your employee will be working and living in the Netherlands, you will have to arrange a work and residence permit (‘GVVA’) for them. This will give your employee permission to stay in the Netherlands and do their job.

If your employee will be working in the Netherlands for less than 90 days and will not have an official residence while they are here, they will only need a work permit (‘TWV’). You will have to arrange this permit on your employee’s behalf.
