Avoid and report scams and phishing
Unfortunately, there may be instances where scammers use fake websites, emails or phone numbers to pose as our organisation. In reality, they are just trying to get sensitive information from you. This is known as ‘phishing’.
Suspicious emails
If you have received a suspicious email, do not respond to it. Instead, forward the email to valse-email@uwv.nl and then delete it.
How to avoid a phishing scam by email
- Do not click on links or open attachments in phishing emails.
- Check the identity of the person or organisation before sending them any personal information.
- Make sure your firewall and antivirus software are up to date.
- Disconnect your device from the internet and other networks if you notice anything unusual about our login process
- Check the URL carefully to make sure you are being directed to a legitimate site. Fake websites often have spelling mistakes or subtle changes in their URL.
Suspicious phone calls
‘Vishing’ is a form of phishing, but it is done over the phone. If you suspect a vishing scam, contact us. Make sure you have your citizen service number (‘BSN’) close to hand so that we can help you quickly and efficiently.
