About the UWV top-up benefit
This benefit tops up your income so that, at most, you receive the guaranteed minimum income (‘sociaal minimum’). The guaranteed minimum income that applies to you will depend on your living situation.
What are the criteria for an UWV top-up benefit?
You can apply for an UWV top-up benefit if you are 18 or older and your household income is lower than the guaranteed minimum income for your particular situation.
You must also meet 1 of the following criteria:
- You are receiving an UWV benefit (or have applied for an UWV benefit).
- You are not fit for work and your employer is paying you less as a result.
- Your employer is self-insured and therefore paying for your sickness benefit.
Please note: You will not be able to apply for an UWV top-up benefit if you are 18, 19 or 20 years old, and living with your parents or foster parents.
