Applying for an UWV top-up benefit
The UWV top-up benefit provides extra income to households receiving less than the guaranteed minimum income. This is the minimum amount people need to meet their basic needs.
If you want to apply for an unemployment benefit and top-up benefit at the same time, you can use the unemployment application form (‘WW-uitkering aanvragen’) to apply for both. You will need either a DigiD account or a valid European electronic ID (‘Europees erkend inlogmiddel’) to do this.
If you are already receiving an unemployment benefit and want to apply for a separate top-up benefit, complete the top-up benefit application form (‘Toeslag aanvragen’).
If you are applying for, or receiving, an IOW or sickness benefit and want to apply for a top-up benefit, complete the top-up benefit application form (‘Toeslag aanvragen’). Please also use this form if you are not receiving an UWV benefit and are receiving a lower salary because you are ill.
You might also qualify for a top-up benefit when applying for, or receiving, a WIA, WAO, WAZ or Wajong benefit. To apply for a top-up benefit in such circumstances, complete the Top-up benefit application form when receiving an occupational disability benefit (‘Aanvragen toeslag als u een WIA-, Wajong-, WAO- of Waz-uitkering heeft’). You will need either a DigiD account or a valid European electronic ID (‘Europees erkend inlogmiddel’) to do this.
Please note: You must specify your partner’s income on the application form if you are either married or the equivalent of married.
