Reporting a change of circumstances on an IOW benefit

You must inform us of a change in your circumstances if you are receiving an IOW benefit. This is important as a change of circumstances could affect how much benefit you are entitled to. Make sure you inform us of a change in your circumstances within 1 week of that change occurring.

How to inform us of a change of circumstances

To inform us of a change, complete the Change of circumstances form for those receiving an IOW benefit (Doorgeven wijzigingen als u een IOW-uitkering heeft). You will need a DigiD account to do this.

Please note: You must use a different form to report changes if you are receiving an additional unemployment, WGA or top-up benefit alongside your IOW benefit. In such a case, please use the ‘Change of circumstances’ form that is intended for the additional benefit you are receiving.

What types of changes should you report?

  • report changes to your personal situation (for example, your address, telephone number, bank account number)
  • report changes to your income that you are receiving in addition to your IOW benefit (for example, income earned via employment or as a self-employed person)
  • report changes to your work situation (for example, working more or fewer hours, leaving a job or career)
  • report changes in your civil status (for example, getting married or divorced, having children)
  • report your holiday plans

Please note: If you are planning on doing volunteer work, you will need to inform us of this via a message in your work folder on Mijn UWV.

If you are unsure about what type of changes you should report to us, please call UWV Telefoon Werknemers (the UWV employee telephone line). We are happy to help.
